Scottish Champion!!

I am pleased to have reclaimed my title of Scottish Champion this year and on a course that characterises mountain bike racing in Scotland. Aberfoyle was a killer up and steep down. I knew if I could avoid the trees the title was mine! Easier said than done but in the 4 lap race I managed on all but the 2nd lap. Trees: 1 Lee: 4. After a bout of bad luck (bruised hips, chest infections and punctures) I really needed a race like this to remind me why I ride my bike hard. It was great fun and I am back on for the 2nd half of the season now. The weekend after next is British round (IN SCOTLAND!) which I’d be keen to win. Home turf and all that. Then I fly to USA for 2 more World Cups to get some form for the British Champs in July. But today I was just delighted to be racing on home turf and to be presented with my medal by Her Majesty the Queen was an additional, unexpected honour. She is, apparently, giving up on horses and looking to buy a couple of mountain bikers instead. I explained I wasn’t much of an investment but I’m never one to knock a sponsorship deal.
