2015 is going to be great. Ironically, in the year I leave international xc racing behind, I’ve never ridden my bike more. This weekend I set out with my friends to ride an epic route in the Scottish Highlands in preparation for the Highland Trail 550 this May (a 550 mile self supported mtb time trial I seem to have signed up for).
We rode fully self supported for 230 km through some of the most remote and beautiful places in Scotland with out a midge or a breath of wind under the bluest of blue skies. Dream like.
And there will be more like this to come in 2015. I will be blogging for Yonder Journal on their #seekandenjoy team, undertaking bike packing routes all over Scotland and Europe on Specialized bikes. I’ve got some big adventures planned across the French Alps, through the Italian Dolomites and over the Spanish Pyranees as well as whisky tasting tours up the westerns isles and dog packing in the Highlands (bike packing but towing Digger in his trailer because this stuff is not challenging enough).
In 2015, I’ll still be racing a Cannondale in some domestic (and the odd international) mountain bike marathon and Enduro. I’ll also be doing the occasional mtb stage race if the Highland Trail 550 doesn’t snap me in two!
And it won’t be just me. I’ll be taking my buddies on these Yonder Journal #seekandenjoy trips which will make a lovely change from the company of my heart rate monitor and ipod.
Stay tuned at http://www.leecraigie.com, on Twitter & Instagram leecraigie_ and Faceache (if you can be bothered) #seekandenjoy. It’s going to be amazing
